Canopy rental affordability Index: Q2 2024

The latest Rental Affordability Report from Canopy presents data from Q2 (April to June 2024), building on insights from our inaugural Q1 index. The report continues to explore the cost of renting in the private rental sector, offering a detailed view of affordability for tenants across the UK.

At its core, the report analyses the average rental share per named tenant against individual take-home income, producing a rent-to-income ratio that highlights the proportion of net salary spent on rent monthly and annually.

This index draws on data from over 60,000 individual renters in our nationwide database, providing a robust and representative snapshot of current rental affordability trends.
